Nurturing and Engaging Toddler Care

Welcome to our licensed toddler program room, designed to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for 15 children aged 18 months to 30 months.

Our Caterpillar Room is a bright and sunny space with large windows overlooking a spacious fenced yard, allowing children to connect with nature while indoors. With a focus on age-appropriate activities, our team of three dedicated Early Childhood Educators carefully plans the program, combining free play and teacher-guided activities to foster holistic development.

One of our key objectives is to create a curriculum that supports your child’s growth. Our educators incorporate circle time into the daily routine, offering a combination of structured learning and interactive experiences. This circle time not only nurtures your child’s cognitive and social skills but also establishes a strong foundation for their future educational journey. By having the same educators for both circle time and lunch, we ensure continuity and a deeper understanding of your child’s development and eating habits.

Two snacks and lunch are offered in our unique Toddler Cafe. The morning snack is typically a breakfast-type food i.e cereal and milk or bagels and it is a lunch that is prepared by our full-time cook. The cafe has child-sized tables and chairs that encourage independence and conversation. Please see our Nutrition page for additional information about our kitchen.

A child-sized bathroom is just off the playroom and is specifically designed for diapering as well as toilet training. Your child’s independence is encouraged with child-sized sinks and toilets.

In our fenced yard, your child can safely enjoy essential outdoor play twice a day. This yard meets all CSA standards and is specifically designed with the toddlers’ skills in mind. We have a sandbox, a slide with a climber, a little playhouse and a pathway for riding on toys. Lots of opportunities for active learning or Gross Motor skills.

After a busy morning of play both indoor and out, and a full tummy from lunch, children settle down for a nap in the program room on specially- sized toddler cots. These cots are placed in the same spot each day to encourage independence and a feeling of comfort and security. Your child is free to bring in a soft toy to help them feel comfortable.

Once your child turns 30 months and space becomes available, they will transition into our preschool program. Please check the preschool program page for more information.
